The Cluster of Excellence "Macromolecular Complexes"

(CEF) aims at understanding the molecular mechanism and functional consequences underlying the interactions of biological macromolecules in the cell, or in the cell membrane. The CEF is one of the Clusters of Excellence funded by the DFG in 2006
for a period of five years. It is an inter-
disciplinary centre within the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University.

Ritva Tikkanen is one of eight scientists receiving funding from the Alzheimer Forschung Initiative e. V. this year for research relevant to Alzheimer's disease.
